Job Description

The purpose of the Learning and Development Practitioner is to identify staff training and development needs, and for planning, organising and overseeing appropriate training to assist the staff to perform their roles effectively and efficiently.


  • Matric
  • National Diploma in Human Resources or related
  • An accredited Assessor certification (Advantages)
  • Knowledge and Experience:
  • A minimum 2- 3 years in a training environment in a manufacturing /pulp and paper making environment.
  • Experience in competency based training will be an added advantage
  • Valid Driver License


  • Must have good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be a well-organised individual with attention to detail
  • Have a strong administrative abilities
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels
  • Must possess initiative and have problem solving abilities
  • Must have the ability to supervise learners and transfer knowledge
  • The ability to handle

Key Duties:

  • Conducting training needs analysis at shop floor level
  • Planning and implementing training interventions with adherence to the agreed training plan
  • Conducting on-the-job training and assessments
  • Coordinating the Learnership and Apprenticeship programme training activities
  • Developing, maintaining and continuously improving training and assessment materials
  • Developing and maintaining formal records for functional SOP’s for all employees as required by the Department of Labour
  • Compilation of the Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report for the site
  • Performing administrative duties related to training and development
  • Operational and technical support with close working cooperation with Operations.
  • Prepare and submit a monthly training and development report
